The First India School of Internet Governance (inSIG 2016) was held in Hyderabad, India between 31 October – 2 November, 2016. This program was aimed to sensitize community members on Internet Governance issues in order to equip them with the necessary skills to enable them to participate effectively in global Internet Governance platforms, processes and institutions, ultimately creating champions in the society.

Organized, by ISOC Delhi and Trivandrum Chapters, inSIG 2016 was supported by the National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI,) Ministry of Communication and IT(MeitY), ICANN, Internet Society; International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad (IIIT-H); APNIC; and the Asia-Pacific School of Internet Governance (APSIG).

Apart from Indian participants, there were 16 International participants hailing from 8 countries. Care was taken to ensure a good representation of gender, age and professional backgrounds. The participants were encouraged to discuss and exchange views and perspectives, both with speakers and fellow participants to ensure a holistic view amongst participants.
